Chilled No Joke At Morphettville

April Fool’s Day Team Snippets ventured over to Adelaide with our two year old filly Chilled. She didn’t let us down bravely leading from pillar to post to claim the first race. She is not big but blessed with raw ability and most importantly she has grit and determination. I loved the way she pinned back her ears and rallied when a bigger and stronger filly raced up to her from the rear and had every chance to get passed her. She gave her the stare through her winkers and said ah ah you’re not getting passed me and she hung on. Through the line she continued to run through the line and never let her challengers head her at any stage. I love to see a strong finish through the line.

Chilled will now head to Mornington next Saturday on the stand alone Mornington Cup Saturday meeting. The race we are targeting is the Mornington Sires over 1200m. I think this filly will relish the step up in trip and I’m looking forward to seeing her get onto her home track where she has trialled in the early days and she won’t have to embark on a long float trip to get the races.

Speaking of float rides this filly has covered more ground than Burke and Wills. Since September when she burst onto the scene with some impressive trials she has been from Mornington to Sydney, Queensland, Mornington, Adelaide and back to Mornington. The Sydney leg 2 weeks where she trialled and placed 3rd at Warick Farm. We then thought she may be able to sneak into the Magic Millions Classic field so she then headed further north up the Pacific Highway to the Sunshine Coast. She placed 3rd there. With her Magic Millions mission aborted we then gave her a shot spell at Kolora Lodge where she was broken in. From there she went home to Mornington. She then was ready for her next preparation and she trialled well. We then sent her to Adelaide last week and she won. She’s now back home in Mornington and should be primed for next Saturday.
